Description

David Woodlock 1852-1929.Figure landscape and garden painter.Born in Ireland.Lived in Liverpool,Sheffield and Leamington Spa ,Warks.He was a key figure in the development of a distinct school of Liverpool painters .He produced some truly beautiful cottage scenes and views of Venice. He was a founder member and later President of the Liver Sketching Club and also a member of the Liverpool Academy of Arts.He developed an individualistic style of watercolour painting where the bleeding together of colours often produced dramatic results.Exhibited 17 works at the RA but principally at the Walker Art Gallery Livery where he showed 118 works. ‘The Old White Horse Inn,St Ives ,Huntingdonshire’,signed watercolour,image size 34.5x26 cms,framed size 53x44 cms
