Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A bureau on stand is an eighteenth-century style writing desk consisting of a sloped drop-front writing cabinet elevated on a tall table frame or cabriole legs. Originating during the William and Mary and George I periods, it offers a compact writing surface along with interior compartments.

These pieces were primarily crafted using walnut or burr walnut veneers laid over oak or pine carcase woods. Solid walnut was used for the turned or cabriole legs, while brass plates and drop handles provided decorative functional hardware.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, oak drawer linings with grain running front-to-back, and natural timber shrinkage along the grain. Look for original brass escutcheon plates, hand-forged iron locks, and uneven wear consistent with age.

Place the piece in an alcove, hallway, or living room corner to serve as a compact workspace. Contrast the warm timber grain and curved cabriole legs against neutral walls and contemporary lighting or modern artwork.

Apply a high-grade beeswax polish along the direction of the grain twice a year to maintain hydration and protect the veneer. Keep the furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber warping and veneer lifting.
