Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian pollard oak wardrobe is characterised by its construction using oak timber sourced from pollarded trees, which produces a highly figured grain pattern. These pieces often feature breakfront configurations, mirrored door panels, central drawers, and detailed carving popular during the nineteenth century.

Victorian wardrobes were constructed primarily from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, often incorporating decorative veneers like pollard oak or burr walnut. Mirrors were made with bevelled plate glass, and drawer handles or hinges were cast in brass or iron.

Authentic Victorian wardrobes typically feature hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, original brass locks, cast fittings, and solid timber back panels. Breakfront framing, carved panel motifs, and natural age-related oxidisation on interior surfaces also indicate nineteenth-century origin.

Large antique wardrobes serve as focal storage solutions in traditional or eclectic bedrooms, hallways, or dressing rooms. Pairing dark oak timber with neutral wall tones or contemporary linen upholstery creates visual contrast while highlighting the carved woodwork.

Pollard oak furniture should be dusted regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and polished periodically using natural beeswax. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent timber movement, veneer lifting, or cracking.
