Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A nest of tables is a set of graduating accent tables designed to slide underneath one another to conserve floor space. First designed in the late eighteenth century, they gained widespread popularity during the nineteenth century as flexible occasional tables for tea and social gatherings.

Nineteenth-century nests of tables were commonly constructed from hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut. Construction features include hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, turned bamboo or spindle legs, and thin internal runner grooves allowing the smaller tables to slide seamlessly beneath the larger frame.

Authentic period pieces display age-appropriate wear to the polish, natural shrinkage marks in the oak top, and hand-cut joinery. Look for subtle variations in dimensions across the set, hand-carved stretcher supports, and dark patination on the undersides of the timber tops.

Position the nested set beside an armchair or sofa end to function as compact side tables. They can be stacked together for a compact footprint or pulled apart across a living room when extra surface space is required for entertaining.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft microfibre cloth following the natural grain of the wood. Protect the original finish by applying a natural beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding modern chemical sprays and keeping the timber away from direct heat sources.
