Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A quartetto nest of tables is a set of four graduating occasional tables designed to fit closely together, one beneath the other. First popularised in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the format provided versatile surface space for entertaining while minimising floor space when stored.

Nineteenth-century nested tables were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, rosewood, and walnut. Construction featured slender turned spindle legs, arched stretchers for structural stability, and hand-joined timber tops.

Authentic period pieces display evidence of hand-carving and hand-planing, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and natural oxidation or wear to the finish where the frames contact one another. The graduating dimensions are precisely calculated so each table slides smoothly beneath the larger frame.

A nest of tables can be arranged fully stacked at the end of a sofa to save space, or stepped outwards to create a multi-tiered surface for lamps, books, and drinks. The individual tables can also be separated across a room when hosting guests.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources or radiators to prevent the wood from shrinking or splitting, and wipe spills immediately.
