Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian mourning rings were crafted as keepsake tokens to commemorate deceased loved ones, a custom that reached its peak popularity during the reign of Queen Victoria following the death of Prince Albert in 1861.

These pieces commonly incorporated high-carat yellow gold, black enamel, seed pearls representing tears, small diamonds, and woven locks of human hair protected under glass or crystal.

Authentic period examples feature hallmarks consistent with 19th-century British assay offices, hand-chased metalwork, central hair compartments, and occasional inscriptions detailing the deceaseds initials or date of death.

Small antique jewellery items are best displayed inside glass-topped brass vitrines, framed shadow boxes, or placed atop velvet trinket trays on a bedroom dressing table or vanity cabinet.

To preserve hair work under glass, avoid submerging the ring in liquid or ultrasonic cleaners, store it away from direct sunlight, and clean the gold setting using a dry microfibre cloth.
