Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Edwardian era, desk accessories such as silver mounted stamp boxes became popular items for personal correspondence. These containers featured compartmentalised glass bases and sterling silver lids designed to store postage stamps systematically on a writing table.

Edwardian stamp boxes were typically constructed using heavy cut glass or crystal bases fitted with sterling silver mounts and lids. The interior of the glass base often contained sloped wells to facilitate retrieving individual stamps.

Authenticity is confirmed by checking for official British hallmarks stamped into the silver rim or lid, indicating the maker, silver purity, assay office, and date letter from 1901 to 1910. Period glass bases usually display faceted cutting and light surface friction marks on the underside.

An antique silver stamp box can be placed on a modern study desk, bedside table, or decorative tray to hold paperclips, cuff links, or small jewellery. Its reflective silver surface and geometric cut glass provide a textural accent in contemporary spaces.

Clean the silver lid using a soft cotton cloth paired with a specialised silver polish, avoiding harsh rubbing over hallmarks. The glass base should be wiped with a microfibre cloth dampened with warm water, ensuring liquid does not collect under the metal border.
