We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian side chairs originate from 18th and early 19th-century Britain, characterized by solid mahogany construction, hand-carved back splats, balanced proportions, and drop-in upholstered seats.

Cabinetmakers primarily used imported West Indian mahogany, joining components with traditional mortise and tenon woodwork. Upholstery frequently featured hand-stitched wool needlepoint or tapestry textiles over horsehair padding.

Authentic period chairs show irregular hand-carved splat details, hand-sawn timber marks on the seat frame underside, age-related oxidation to the mahogany, and hand-cut joinery rather than machine-made dowels.

A single Georgian side chair functions effectively as a decorative accent in an entryway, alongside a writing desk, or placed in the corner of a bedroom to add historical contrast to modern decor.

Timber surfaces should be preserved with periodic applications of natural beeswax, avoiding aerosol polishes. Upholstery should be kept out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading and stored in well-ventilated areas away from damp.
