Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco silver cigarette cases from the 1930s typically feature bold geometric designs, clean lines, and polished enamel panels contrasting with precious metals. During this period, silversmiths frequently incorporated sleek monochrome palettes like black enamel alongside marcasite or gemstone accents.

These items were primarily constructed from sterling silver (925 purity) and finished with vitreous enamel, which was fired at high temperatures to create a smooth, durable surface. Interiors often retained engine-turned gilding or sprung silver retainers to hold contents securely.

Authentic British sterling silver pieces feature a set of official hallmarks stamped into the metal. These include the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark such as a leopards head for London, a date letter indicating the exact year of manufacture, and a makers mark.

Antique cigarette cases are frequently repurposed in modern settings as holders for business cards, credit cards, or folded paper currency. They can also be displayed flat on a desk, dressing table, or vanity tray as decorative accent pieces.

Clean silver surfaces carefully using a soft, non-abrasive silver polishing cloth while avoiding direct pressure on enamel sections. Keep enamel dry and free from chemical cleaners, as harsh substances or sudden temperature shifts can cause cracking or dulling.
