Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Vaseline glass is a form of decorative art glass popularised during the 19th century that contains small amounts of uranium oxide. This addition gives the glass a distinct yellow-green tint and causes it to glow under ultraviolet light.

Pieces were traditional hand-blown by glassmakers who manipulated molten glass using blowpipes, pontil rods, and hand tools. Decorative elements such as ruffled rims, swirled casing, and applied glass flowers or handles were shaped separately and attached while the glass remained hot.

Authentic pieces exhibit a translucent yellow or green hue under natural light and fluoresce bright green under a ultraviolet blacklight. Hand-blown Victorian examples often feature pontil scars on the base and irregularities indicative of manual craftsmanship.

Decorative glass vessels can be styled on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or illuminated glass cabinet. Placing the object near natural light sources or targeted UV accent lighting highlights the colour contrasts and translucent glass details.

Clean hand-blown glass using lukewarm water and a mild non-abrasive dish soap. Avoid sudden temperature changes, dishwashers, and harsh chemicals, drying gently with a soft lint-free microfibre cloth.
