Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Vaseline glass refers to translucent yellow or yellow-green glass manufactured with small amounts of uranium oxide. Popular during the 19th century, this glass formulation was used extensively for decorative tableware, posy holders, and ornamental vessels.

These vessels were created by shaping molten glass into a horn form, often incorporating ribbed textures and hand-crimped frilled rims. The glass horn was then fitted into a metal sleeve and secured to a weighted base, such as cut or bevelled mirror glass.

Period examples display fine hand-finishing, delicate crimping along the rim, and a characteristic opalescent glow under natural light. When exposed to long-wave ultraviolet light, authentic uranium-bearing vaseline glass fluoresces a vivid green colour.

Place the object on a mantelpiece, side table, or window ledge where light can pass through the glass to highlight its tone and transparency. It functions effectively either as a singular decorative specimen or alongside complementary glass vessels.

Hand wash the glass element carefully using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, ensuring the water does not reach extreme temperatures. Wipe the mirrored base gently with a microfiber cloth and keep moisture away from any metal mountings to prevent tarnishing or degradation.
