Georgian William Moon London Stick Barometer

Description

A George III period mahogany cased stick barometer with silvered scale by William Moon of London, fully restored and working c.1825. The mahogany case with decorative pediment to the top and original brass finials; turned pillars either side of the scale. The trunk with moulded edge and book matched feathered veneers, unusual hinged cistern cover door to the base. Engraved silvered scale with vernier marker set to the side and mercury action barometer tube set to the centre. Bears the makers name WM Moon; William Moon senior is recorded as working at Minories and West India Dock Road, London between 1820 and 1851. This fully restored and working example presented in superb condition. Keep up to date via Instagram - sturmansantiques. Measures 39" long x 7" wide at the cornice x 3" wide at the trunk x 1" deep.
