Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A nest of tables consists of a set of small tables of graduating sizes designed to fit neatly on top of one another. Originating in the late 18th century and often attributed to furniture designer Thomas Sheraton, they gained widespread popularity during the 19th and early 20th centuries as practical, space-saving occasional furniture.

Traditional nests of tables were commonly constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or walnut. High-quality examples feature decorative marquetry, boxwood stringing, satinwood crossbanding, and delicate turned legs joined by stretchers for structural stability.

Authentic period nests usually display hand-cut joinery, subtle wear marks on the inner leg runners from repeated sliding, and natural patina across the timber finish. Period pieces also exhibit slim proportions, detailed inlay work, and hand-finished undersides.

Position the nested tables alongside a sofa or armchair as compact side tables, separating them when entertaining guests to offer additional surfaces for drinks and books. The warm mahogany tones and geometric inlaid motifs complement both tailored contemporary seating and traditional upholstery.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, buffing along the direction of the grain. Keep the tables away from direct sunlight, radiators, and moisture sources to prevent wood inlays from lifting or shrinking.
