First quarter 20th century.

A very nice luri tribal saddle bag face with this wonderful abstract/geometric design

Virtually full piled throughout

Hand washed and de-dusted with all ends and sides secured.

This item now makes for wall decoration,use on the floor,backs of chairs/settees or arm facings.

Limited only by your imagination as to what it can be used for !

Surely will fit in well with a modernist interior also.

1 foot 10 inches, (56cm) high

2 foot 5 inches, (74cm) wide. (all sizes excluding fringes).

A Luri saddlebag face, or khorjin face, is a hand-woven wool textile originally created by nomadic Luri tribes of Luristan in Western Persia to transport goods on pack animals.

These rugs were hand-knotted using hand-spun sheep wool dyed with plant and mineral dyes, constructed on compact portable looms suited to a nomadic lifestyle.

Authentic Luri rugs feature rich natural dyes, high-lanolin wool with a soft handle, flexible construction, and repeating geometric diamond or latch-hook motifs.

These compact tribal textiles can be displayed as decorative wall hangings, framed artwork, or layered over larger neutral floor coverings to add texture and colour.
