Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Emerging in the nineteenth century, cast iron boot scrapers became essential doorstep fixtures in urban and rural homes to prevent mud from being tracked indoors.

These items were primarily produced using molten iron poured into sand moulds, creating heavy, durable functional pieces with intricate cast details.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural surface oxidisation, crisp casting lines, substantial weight, and occasionally registration marks or foundry stamps on the underside.

Position the piece beside an entryway door, porch step, or within a boot room to serve as a functional historic architectural accent.

Brush away dry debris with a stiff bristle brush, clean with warm soapy water, dry thoroughly, and apply a thin layer of microcrystalline wax or oil to prevent rust formation.
