AC Silver has dated this Antique Gold Snuff Box to the 1850s.
The body of this antique gold snuff box is embellished with flat chased scrolling decoration to the centre of each panel, in addition to continuing across each incurved rounded corner.
This impressive antique box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover ornamented to the upper plateau with flat chased interlacing scrolling decoration, incorporating a fruit design to the centre; the underside of the box bears the same design as the cover.
The anterior rim of the cover incorporates an impressive applied yellow gold thumbpiece, ornamented with cast scrolling decoration.
The interior of the cover bears the sales label pertaining to the renowned English auction house 'Christies', from a prior decade.
Such examples in this exceptional and unused condition are becoming increasingly difficult to locate; this piece is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire.
Condition
This antique German gold snuff box is an exceptional gauge of gold, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The cast decoration is very sharp and the flat chased decoration is very crisp.
The Hanau hallmarks to the interior of the box are very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of gold.
