Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, snuff boxes served as both practical containers for powdered tobacco and important status symbols. Craftsmanship in precious metals such as 14ct gold signified the owners social standing and personal wealth.

Gold snuff boxes were commonly constructed from 14ct or 18ct gold alloys to ensure structural durability while maintaining luster. Artisans used techniques such as hand engraving, chasing, engine turning, and repousse to create elaborate surface designs.

Authentic pieces generally bear period makers marks or purity hallmarks stamped into the rim, interior, or bezel. Examination under magnification will reveal hand-cut engraving lines and flush-fitting, hand-fitted piano hinges typical of mid-nineteenth century metalwork.

A small decorative gold object can be displayed atop an office desk, positioned on a tray within a glass cabinet, or arranged alongside hardback books on a shelf. It functions as a textured metallic accent piece within classic or eclectic decor schemes.

Clean gold boxes gently using a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth to clear surface oils and dust. Avoid abrasive cleansers, harsh chemicals, or ultrasonic baths, and store the item in a dry, soft-lined box away from direct heat.
