Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Post-Impressionism emerged in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, departing from strict naturalism to emphasize geometric forms, expressive colour, and short, deliberate brushstrokes or knife work. Floral compositions within this movement often use vibrant palette choices and heavy texture to convey light and emotion rather than literal botanical detail.

Artists during this era frequently employed oil paint applied with a palette knife or heavy brushwork on canvas or wooden panel to create an impasto texture. Works are commonly presented in moulded wooden frames featuring linen or velvet slip inserts to complement the tactile quality of the paint.

Authentication involves evaluating the artists signature, brushwork technique, and composition style against established catalogue raisonnes. Physical examination of canvas age, natural craquelure patterns, stretcher construction, and period frame markings also provides key verification.

A framed Post-Impressionist painting serves as a focal point above focal architectural elements or primary furniture pieces. The expressive colours can be echoed in surrounding soft furnishings or wall paint, bridging historical artwork with contemporary minimalism.

Paintings should be kept in a climate-controlled environment away from direct sunlight, dampness, and high heat sources. Dusting should be performed gently with a soft brush, and professional conservation should be sought for cleaning or varnish replacement.
