A Georgian tripod table is an 18th-century circular occasional table supported by a central turned pedestal resting on three outward-curving legs. Many examples feature a tilt-top mechanism that allows the tabletop to pivot vertically for storage when not in use.

These tables were predominantly crafted from solid dense mahogany imported from the West Indies, though native timber like oak and walnut was also used. Construction involved hand-cut dovetail joints on the tilt block, turned central columns, and legs hand-dovetailed into the base of the pedestal.

Authentic pieces display hand-saw marks on the underside, hand-forged iron or brass catches, and natural timber shrinkage leading to slight oval deformation of the round top over time. The underside of the tilt mechanism typically shows hand-planed surfaces rather than modern machine cuts.

Position the table beside a sofa or armchair as a functional drinks table, or set it in an empty corner with the top tilted upright to display the wood grain as decorative wall art when additional floor space is required.
