Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Queen Anne period, spanning the early 18th century, is distinguished by refined proportions, gentle curves, and the widespread decorative use of figured and burr walnut veneers.

Chests from this era featured solid timber carcasses, often oak or pine, covered in hand-cut walnut veneers, dovetail drawer joinery, and decorative brass drop handles with matching escutcheons.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn veneer thickness, oak drawer linings with irregular hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct brassware, and natural shrinkage or surface patination consistent with age.

An 18th-century walnut chest serves as a grounding focal point in modern hallways or bedrooms, balancing minimalist architectural lines with rich natural wood tones.

Preserve the surface patina by keeping the furniture away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight, dusting regularly with a soft cloth, and applying beeswax polish periodically.
