Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These timepieces feature cast bronze or brass casings decorated using the Champleve technique, where carved recesses in the metal are filled with coloured vitreous enamel. Prominent during the French Napoleon III era, they frequently incorporate classical architecture, cherub figures, and detailed scrollwork.

They were constructed from cast ormolu or gilded brass casings set with polychrome glass enamel. The internal mechanisms were made with heavy brass plates, steel arbours, and traditional pendulum-escapement striking movements.

Authentic examples exhibit precise hand-engraved borders surrounding the enamel fields and natural patination on the gilded surfaces. The reverse of the clock mechanism often bears stamped maker marks or serial numbers from French horologists.

Place the clock as a central focal point on a marble mantelpiece, a minimalist side cabinet, or within an curated bookshelf display. Surrounding the object with understated contemporary decor highlights its intricate metalwork and colour scheme.

Dust the casing regularly with a soft dry brush or microfibre cloth, keeping clear of chemical polishers that can damage gilded layers. The mechanical movement should be inspected, lubricated, and serviced by a professional horologist every five to seven years.
