Arundel Society Altarpiece Triptych After Stephan Lochner (1410-1451)

19th century
Description

A late 19th Century Arundel Society five-panel chromolithpgraph altarpiece. The centre panel showing "The Adoration of the Magi and four other religious scenes after Stephan Lochner. Set in the original oak frame with solid brass hinges. In very good condition.

Stefan Lochner (1410-1451) was a German painter working in the late International Gothic period. His paintings combine that era's tendency toward long flowing lines and brilliant colours with the realism, virtuoso surface textures and innovative iconography of the early Northern Renaissance.
