This is an antique gentleman's writing slope. An English, burr walnut and leather correspondence box, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1850.

Delightful craftsmanship with a striking appearance

Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order

Select burr walnut show fine grain interest and warm caramel hues

Gold tooled and embossed leather skiver in a charming deep blue

Unmarked brass name plaque to lid, ideal for personalisation

Case fascia dressed with a brass lock escutcheon — in working order, key present

Pleasingly accentuated to the corners with ebonised borders

Opens out to a gentle slope, with a two piece skiver
