American Ansonia 8 Day Wall Clock Time Piece

Description

American Ansonia Clock Co. round faced extended drop dial 8 day wall clock in a carved and moulded mahogany case with scroll bottom. Brass bezel with flat glass over a white painted dial with black roman numerals and ornate black painted hands with separate lower in view brass pendulum window. Spring driven, pendulum regulated, time piece movement, circa 1890.

Dimensions: Height - 31", Width - 16.5", Depth 4.5".

The Ansonia Clock Company, formed in 1851 and operated as a high-quality company until the 1920s. A series of bad decisions and the Depression forced the sale of the company to Soviet Russia in 1928. The company was originally housed in Darby, Connecticut until 1854 when the factory burned. The company moved production to Ansonia.
