Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Caucasian Erivan rugs originate from the Caucasus region and are recognized by their strong geometric layouts, central star medallions, and stylized animal or floral motifs. Woven around the turn of the 20th century, these textiles typically feature saturated blue, red, and cream tones derived from traditional dye processes.

Authentic Caucasian rugs were hand-knotted using locally sourced sheeps wool for both the pile and the underlying warp and weft foundation. The yarn was dyed using natural plant, mineral, and insect extracts prior to weaving on vertical looms.

Authentic antique pieces feature hand-tied symmetrical or asymmetrical knots visible on the underside, slight variations in design symmetry, and natural colour abrash (colour shifts within the yarn). The foundation will typically be flexible wool rather than rigid synthetic backings.

A geometric Caucasian rug acts as an anchor in neutral room schemes, adding pattern and historical contrast beneath contemporary furniture. It pairs effectively with dark timber floors, leather seating, or exposed brick in classic and eclectic spaces.

Vacuum the rug regularly using suction only, avoiding rotating beater bars that can snag hand-knotted wool fibres. Rotate the rug annually to distribute foot traffic and light exposure evenly, and clean spills immediately with clean water and a neutral soap.
