Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A South Wales oak dresser is a traditional piece of regional British country furniture featuring an upper open plate rack above a lower base with drawers and a potboard, originally designed to display and store tableware in provincial homes.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid native oak, featuring peg joinery, hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, brass escutcheons, turned wooden knobs, and forged metal hooks for hanging cups.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-planed timber surfaces, uneven saw marks on backboards, natural wood shrinkage around joint lines, original brass or iron hardware, and historical surface patina around handles.

Position the dresser against a light-coloured wall to highlight its silhouetted grain, and style the open shelving with modern neutral ceramics, stoneware, or glass items to create a balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern design.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year to preserve the wood moisture, buffing gently along the grain.
