Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A vesta case is a compact portable container manufactured to hold friction matches, named after Vesta, the Roman goddess of the hearth. During the Edwardian period, these personal metal accessories were routinely carried in waistcoat pockets and featured silver construction with decorative surface engraving.

Vesta cases were predominantly produced using sterling silver, nickel, brass, or silver plate. Construction routinely incorporated a spring-loaded hinged lid, a small suspension ring for attachment to a pocket watch chain, and a serrated striking surface along the bottom rim.

Authentic British pieces bear official hallmarks indicating the assay office, silver purity mark, makers mark, and date letter corresponding to the Edwardian period between 1901 and 1910. Original examples demonstrate mechanical spring hinges and hand-engraved surface patterns rather than modern cast reproductions.

These small silver objects can be presented on a valet tray on an office desk, arranged within a glass shadow box frame, or incorporated into a decorative vignette on a bookshelf. They also function as key pendants or central display accents on a dressing table.

Clean the silver using a soft microfibre cloth and a non-abrasive specialist silver polish to prevent surface scratches. Store the item in a low-humidity environment inside a tarnish-resistant cloth bag to minimise oxidisation over time.
