Ernest Higgins Rigg "Barn at Swaledale" Oil Painting

Description

Born in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1868, Rigg studied at Bradford College of Art then at the renowned Académie Julian in Paris. His attractive open air scenes were in the manner of French late nineteenth century painting. He exhibited at RA, RBA, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and elsewhere, working in many parts of England. He was a prominent member of the Staithes Group and later lived for a time in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.

"The Barn at Swaledale" is an oil painting on board measuring 12" x 16". Showing a landscape close to the artist's home at Low Row, Swaledale, Yorkshire, it is signed lower left and is framed giving an overall size of 19"x 24".
