Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Campaign furniture was developed during the 18th and 19th centuries primarily for British military and naval officers to use while deployed abroad. The designs prioritized durability and portability, featuring flush-fitting hardware and sturdy woods capable of withstanding rough travel and climate changes.

Campaign trunks were commonly crafted from hard-wearing timbers such as camphor wood, teak, or mahogany. Heavy brass bindings, corner brackets, and recessed flush handles were applied to protect the timber edges from impact during transport.

Authentic pieces feature recessed brass hardware fitted flush into hand-chiselled recesses to prevent snagging during travel. Genuine camphor wood chests also retain a distinct aromatic scent when opened and typically exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery.

A campaign trunk functions effectively as a coffee table, a storage chest placed at the foot of a bed, or a functional side table. Its clean lines and brass accents allow it to integrate into both traditional and contemporary interior schemes.

Maintain the timber by regularly applying a high-quality beeswax polish along the direction of the grain. Brass fittings should be cleaned gently with a dry soft cloth to preserve the natural historical patina rather than using harsh chemical cleaners.
