Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency style mirrors, produced predominantly between 1810 and 1830, are defined by Neoclassical architectural influence. Common elements include flame mahogany veneers, reeded pilasters, gilded accents, and symbolic crestings such as carved eagles, urns, or foliage.

Frame constructions typically utilized solid oak or pine cores veneered with rich flame mahogany. Decorative crestings were hand-carved from timber or moulded from gesso before being finished with leaf gilding, accompanied by mercury-silvered mirror glass.

Authentic period pieces display evidence of hand-sawing on backboards, natural oxidisation on original mirror plate, and secondary wood timber beneath veneers. The gilding often shows age-appropriate wear and patination, while brass or wood fixings exhibit historical hand-craftsmanship.

Place the mirror above a mantelpiece or a sleek console table to create an anchor point in a hallway or living room. The warm timber tones and gilded accents contrast effectively against contemporary neutral walls, dark backdrop paint schemes, or minimalist furnishings.

Dust timber frames regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid spraying glass cleaner directly onto the mirror, as liquid seeped into edges damages silvering and timber; gilding should be lightly dusted without chemical cleaners to preserve delicate gold leaf.
