Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency pier mirror is a tall, narrow wall mirror originally designed to hang on the wall spaceor pierbetween two windows. Popular during the early 19th century in Britain, these mirrors typically feature architectural details such as pediments, friezes, and classical columns.

These mirrors were primarily constructed from solid and veneered timbers, most notably flame mahogany and rosewood. The frames often feature hand-carved turned columns, mercurial glass plates, and secondary pine or oak backing boards.

Authentic 19th-century examples display signs of hand-drawn glass plate manufacture, often showing slight distortion or foxing, along with original wood backing fastened with square-headed nails or wooden pegs. Look for hand-cut joinery and genuine flame mahogany wood veneers.

Position the mirror above a slim console table in an entryway or between two large windows to maximise reflected natural light. The dark mahogany timber pairs effectively with neutral walls, traditional wainscoting, or deep heritage paint tones.

Clean the glass carefully using a soft cloth dampened with water, avoiding harsh chemicals that could damage the silvering along the edges. Preserve the mahogany frame by applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, rubbing gently along the direction of the grain.
