Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

First popularised in the late eighteenth century by furniture designer Thomas Sheraton, a nest of tables consists of graduated tables designed to store compactly beneath one another. They were created to offer portable, space-saving surface areas for tea service and casual entertaining in grand drawing rooms.

Traditional nesting tables were constructed using dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood. Common features include thin solid wood or veneered tops, slender turned legs, rectangular stretchers for stability, and precision-fitted side runners to allow smooth sliding without damaging the timber finish.

Authentic period examples display signs of hand-craftsmanship, including hand-cut joinery beneath the tops, natural oxidisation of the wood grain, and minor variances in dimensions across the individual tables. Weight, uniform timber wear, and genuine patina on contact surfaces further confirm period authenticity.

A walnut nest of tables can be arranged together beside a modern armchair to create layered height or separated across a room as flexible side tables during social gatherings. Pairing dark walnut timber with neutral upholstery, matte ceramic vessels, or contemporary brass lighting creates balanced visual contrast.

Dust surfaces regularly using a clean, soft microfibre cloth following the direction of the timber grain. To maintain the original finish, apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice yearly, avoiding silicone-based sprays, direct sunlight, and placement near heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage or fading.
