Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A nest of tables is a set of graduating accent tables designed to slide neatly beneath one another to save space. Developed in the late eighteenth century by cabinetmakers such as Thomas Sheraton, the form gained widespread popularity throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries as flexible domestic entertainment seating and serving surfaces.

Parquetry involves laying contrasting wood veneers into geometric patterns, such as cubes, diamonds, or herringbone designs. Marquetry uses thin slices of timber, bone, or mother-of-pearl cut into figurative shapes, such as flowers or foliage, and applied to a wooden core using animal glues.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut joinery such as dovetails or mortise-and-tenon construction, natural age wear on support runners, and slight irregularities in the veneer inlay. Later reproductions often display machine-cut precision, uniform modern finishes, and plywood undersides.

A nest of tables functions as versatile side tables placed beside a sofa or armchair, allowing individual elements to be pulled out when hosting guests. In modern spaces, they add texture and historical contrast while providing compact surface areas for lamps, books, or drinks.

Maintain wood inlaid surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax paste annually. Avoid placing water glasses or hot items directly on the veneer, and keep the furniture away from direct heat sources to prevent lifting or cracking of the timber.
