Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Nests of tables, originally known as quartetto tables when produced in sets of four, were introduced in the late eighteenth century by cabinetmakers such as Thomas Sheraton. Designed for drawing rooms, they provided flexible surface space for tea drinking and needlework while storing away efficiently.

Traditional nests of tables are crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, utilising mortise and tenon joinery alongside slender turned or square legs. Tops frequently feature decorative moulded or gadrooned borders, reinforced by low stretchers to ensure structural stability during use.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-carved detailing, slight variations in timber grain between the individual tables, and natural wear along the wooden sliding runners. Inspecting the underside reveals hand-sawn timber marks and age-appropriate patination rather than modern machine finishing.

Position the set beside a armchair or sofa as a compact side table, drawing out the lower tables when entertaining guests. Pairing the dark timber with modern upholstery or contemporary ceramics creates a balanced, layered aesthetic within the room.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the lustre of the timber. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage, warping, or colour bleaching.
