In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mustard pots became prominent additions to British dining tables during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as prepared mustard gained popularity. Victorian examples were often designed as cylindrical drums or oval vessels, featuring elaborate engraving, coat of arms crests, and protective glass liners to prevent the vinegar in the mustard from corroding the metal.

Victorian mustard pots were primarily constructed from sterling silver or electroplated nickel silver. Due to the corrosive nature of mustard, the interior was almost always fitted with a removable glass or cobalt blue glass liner to protect the metal.

Authentic pieces usually feature British silver hallmarks indicating the assay office, maker mark, silver purity, and date letter corresponding to the Victorian period (18371901). Design details such as hand-engraved crests, cast thumbpieces, and beaded borders are characteristic of this era.

An antique mustard pot can be displayed on a sideboard, dresser, or open shelving alongside other silver tableware to create a curated vignette. It can also function as a decorative trinket vessel on a dressing table or desk.

Clean silver mustard pots using a soft cloth and a specialised silver polish, avoiding abrasive materials that could scratch the surface or wear down silver plating. Ensure glass liners are washed separately and dried thoroughly before replacement to prevent moisture trap and oxidisation.
