Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bird motifs in 19th and early 20th-century jewellery frequently served as sentimental symbols, with paired birds representing love, devotion, and fidelity.

These brooches were commonly crafted from sterling silver or continental silver alloys, often incorporating hand-engraved details, pierced openwork, and tube-hinge pin fittings.

Authentic period pieces often feature original pin mechanisms, makers marks or silver purity hallmarks, and show natural oxidisation within the recessed detailed carving.

An antique silver brooch can be attached to coat lapels, heavy knitwear, scarves, or fabric collars to add structural detail to modern garments.

Clean silver brooches using a dry, soft silver-polishing cloth, avoiding liquid dips that strip away the dark patina in low-relief areas.
