Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco animal brooches produced during the 1920s and 1930s combined figurative natural motifs with stylized forms and vibrant vitreous enamelling. Birds and game motifs were frequently rendered in silver or gold, capturing natural postures using colourful enamel applications over engine-turned or cast metallic bases.

These brooches were typically cast or stamped in sterling silver or high-grade silver alloys before receiving vitreous glass enamel. Techniques such as guilloche involved engraving geometric underlying textures, allowing light to reflect through translucent enamel layers fired at high temperatures in a kiln.

Authentic pieces generally feature contemporary makers marks or silver purity hallmarks, such as 925, STERLING, or regional assay stamps. Examine the reverse for period-appropriate pin mechanisms, such as c-clasps or safety locks, and inspect the enamel for hand-applied polychrome detailing.

In addition to being worn on coat lapels, scarves, or knitwear, small enamelled brooches can be displayed mounted inside velvet-lined shadow boxes or arranged on decorative ring trays as part of a dressing table vignette.

Clean gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. Avoid submerging in liquid chemical cleaners or ultrasonic baths, as harsh chemicals can degrade the enamel glaze or dissolve adhesives holding pin components.
