Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A fusee dial clock is a British mechanical timepiece incorporating a cone-shaped pulley system designed to equalise the force exerted by the mainspring as it unwinds. Popular during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, these clocks featured large, legible faces housed in circular wooden surrounds and were commonly installed in public institutions, offices, and homes.

Traditional fusee wall clocks typically feature turned mahogany or oak outer surrounds, cast brass hinged bezels with glass covers, and hand-painted iron or tin dial plates. The internal movement comprises brass plates and gears, steel arbours, and a steel chain or gut line connecting the mainspring barrel to the fusee cone.

Authentic nineteenth-century examples feature heavy cast-brass bezels with side or bottom latch mechanisms, hand-painted Roman numerals on metal dial plates, and heavy brass internal movements. Looking behind the dial will reveal the characteristic cone-shaped fusee pulley rather than a simple spring barrel.

A mahogany dial wall clock functions well as a focal point on a neutral or dark painted accent wall, above a hallway console, or integrated within a framed gallery wall. Its warm timber tones and clear graphic numerals complement both traditional period homes and minimalist modern spaces.

Keep mechanical wall clocks level and mounted securely away from direct heat sources, draughts, or high humidity. The mechanical movement should be professionally cleaned and oiled every five to seven years, while the wooden case can be maintained with occasional applications of clear beeswax polish.
