How were these wooden lamps used?

These pieces provided targeted illumination in sitting rooms, studies, and bedrooms before the widespread use of overhead electric lighting. Lamp tables offered a stable surface for portable table lamps next to seating areas, while standard lamps stood directly on the floor to light darker corners.

How do I date a wooden lamp or table?

Dating relies on identifying stylistic markers, such as the geometric lines of Art Deco pieces or the carved details associated with Edwardian and Victorian furniture. Materials also offer clues, as specific timbers and inlay techniques correspond closely to Georgian, Regency, or Aesthetic Movement periods.

What styles are available?

The available items span several distinct aesthetic movements, including Georgian, Regency, Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco. You will also find pieces reflecting the 18th Century Country Vernacular and the Arts and Crafts movement, each bringing different decorative characteristics to the timber.
