What is a vintage officer desk?

A vintage officer desk is a portable or modular piece of campaign furniture built for military use during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These desks utilise robust hardwoods and protective brass mounts to survive active service in the field.

How do I use a campaign desk?

Campaign desks function well as compact writing tables or feature pieces in studies and home offices. Many designs include folding elements, internal compartments, and drawers suited for modern stationery and laptops.

What woods were used?

Cabinet makers relied on dense, durable timbers capable of resisting humidity and heavy impact during transport. Common materials include mahogany, teak, padouk, and fragrant camphor wood.

How old are these desks?

Most pieces originate from the nineteenth century, spanning the Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian eras. Mid-twentieth-century military and interwar pieces also appear alongside earlier nineteenth-century examples.
