What is a gueridon table used for?

These round tables serve as convenient lamp stands, plant pedestals, or small centre tables in reception rooms. Their compact circular tops provide functional display space without overwhelming smaller interior layouts.

How do I identify French Empire style?

French Empire pieces often incorporate classical architectural motifs, heavy use of mahogany, and cast brass or ormolu mounts. They reflect the formal design preferences popular during the early nineteenth century.

Are marble tops original to these tables?

Many nineteenth-century gueridon tables were constructed specifically to house inset marble or onyx surfaces. Checking the fit against the wooden rebate helps confirm the relationship between the stone and the base.

How should I clean a marble top?

Use a soft cloth dampened with warm water and mild neutral soap to wipe the polished stone surface. Avoid acidic cleaners or abrasive materials that can dull the natural polish of the marble.
