How do I install vintage french brass appliques?

Professional electrical installation is normally required to connect the internal wiring safely to mains power. Positioning depends on ceiling height and room proportions, though pairs typically flank mirrors, doorways, or fireplaces to create balanced illumination.

Were these lights originally wired for electricity?

Many examples dating from the early twentieth century were constructed for electricity, whilst earlier nineteenth-century variants often began as candle-holding sconces. Subsequent conversions adapt older frames to accept modern wiring and bulbs. Checking the existing wiring and lampholders with a qualified electrician ensures compliance with current safety standards upon installation.
