What is an original townscape artwork?

An original townscape artwork is a unique painting, drawing, or watercolour depicting streets, buildings, and urban scenes created directly by the artist. These pieces differ from mass-produced prints because each brushstroke or ink line is hand-applied.

How should I frame a watercolour townscape?

Watercolour paintings require framing behind glass with a mount that keeps the paper from touching the surface of the glass. This protective framing shields the delicate pigments on paper from moisture and ultra-violet light damage.

What periods do these townscapes cover?

The selections span from the early nineteenth century through the Victorian and Edwardian eras into the mid-century modern period. Each era reflects different artistic movements, from British Impressionism to architectural ink drawings.

How do I care for an oil painting on board?

Oil paintings on board need stable indoor environments away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity swings. Regular light dusting with a soft, dry brush keeps the painted surface clean without introducing moisture.
