Where should I place an oak marble side table?

These tables suit narrow hallways, living rooms, and bedrooms where a sturdy surface and compact footprint are useful. The stone top provides a durable area for lamps, decorative objects, or daily essentials. Placing them away from direct heat sources helps protect both the oak timber and the natural marble slab from thermal shock or excessive drying.

How do I clean the marble top?

Wiping the stone with a soft cloth and warm water removes everyday dust without harming the polished finish. Avoid acidic cleaners or vinegar, which can etch and dull the marble surface over time. Using coasters under glasses prevents moisture rings and staining, keeping the stone looking bright and even for daily use.

Are these tables heavy to move?

The combination of solid oak framing and a dense stone slab makes these tables substantially heavier than all-wood furniture. Two people are usually required to lift and reposition them safely without straining the joints. Lifting from the wooden base rather than the marble top prevents the slab from shifting or separating during transit.

How do I identify the period of the table?

Examining the joinery, tool marks, and carving style provides clear clues regarding the age and origin of the wooden base. Elements like Regency reeding, Victorian proportions, or eighteenth-century proportions help narrow down the date. Checking the type of marble and how it is fitted into the oak frame offers additional context about the workshop traditions of the era.
