How do I hang a heavy wooden panel?

Heavy panels require secure fixing directly into wall studs or masonry using appropriate steel brackets and battens to support the weight safely. Consult a professional installer if the panel exceeds standard domestic mirror weights to prevent structural failure.

Can I use an architectural panel outdoors?

Most antique wooden panels are intended for interior use and lack modern weather-resistant treatments suited to harsh exterior climates. Exposure to moisture and temperature fluctuations causes timber to warp, crack and degrade original paint or gilt surfaces.

How do I clean an antique carved panel?

Remove surface dust gently using a soft, dry brush or a lint-free cloth without applying liquid cleaners or household polishes. Feeding the dry timber occasionally with a micro-crystalline wax preserves the finish without attracting dirt into the carved recesses.

What is the difference between a panel and a screen?

A panel is typically a single rigid unit designed for wall mounting or architectural integration, whereas a screen consists of multiple hinged sections. Screens function as movable room dividers and often feature double-sided decoration for spatial separation.
