How do I wear screw-on earrings?

Screw-on earrings utilise a threaded post and a back nut that winds down to secure the piece. They suit non-pierced ears or provide extra security for heavy vintage clusters. To fasten them, twist the nut gently along the post until it rests comfortably against the lobe without pinching.

What defines an Art Deco cluster?

Art Deco clusters feature geometric symmetry, sharp lines, and strong contrasts between white metals like platinum and deep-coloured stones. Emeralds and sapphires paired with straight-cut diamonds are typical of this period. The settings focus on architectural forms rather than the softer, curved floral motifs of the preceding Edwardian era.

Are these pieces original or revival?

The selections include authentic period pieces from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, and mid-century eras, alongside later revival interpretations. Hallmarks, metal types, and cutting styles help distinguish original vintage manufacturing. Examination of the setting techniques provides clear clues regarding the decade of production.

How should I clean vintage gemstone studs?

Cleaning requires warm water and mild dish soap applied with a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from beneath the stones. Avoid harsh chemical dips, particularly with softer organic or treated gems like opals and pearls. Dry the metal thoroughly with a lint-free cloth before storage.
