Can these columns support heavy ceramic planters?

Solid stone, marble and thick hardwood columns offer exceptional load-bearing capacity for substantial indoor plants and large pottery. Lighter plaster or hollow gesso versions require careful weight distribution and suit smaller botanical specimens.

How do I identify an 19th-century Italian marble column?

Nineteenth-century Italian examples often utilise authentic regional stones like Carrara or Verde Antico combined with hand-chiselled details. Look for heavy structural mass and natural mineral variations rather than uniform modern composite materials.

Where should I place a plant column in my home?

These columns suit empty corners, hallway focal points or flanking doorways to add vertical rhythm to a room. Ensure they stand on level flooring away from heavy foot traffic to protect delicate top-heavy plant arrangements.
