What is a quartetto nest of tables?

A quartetto nest consists of four distinct tables built in graduated sizes to slide neatly beneath one another. They were designed for versatile entertaining in period drawing rooms. Today, they offer flexible surface space in a compact footprint, allowing individual tables to be moved around a seating area as needed.

What periods do these tables represent?

The selection spans from George III and Georgian revival pieces through Victorian examples and Edwardian nests. Each era brought subtle shifts in leg turnings and edge profiles. Earlier pieces show hand-cut joinery and dense native timber, while later Edwardian versions often incorporate delicate stringing and lighter construction.

How do I care for mahogany surfaces?

Mahogany responds best to occasional waxing with a traditional beeswax formula to nourish the grain and maintain its natural lustre. Avoid placing timber tables near direct heat sources or strong sunlight. Using coasters and placemats protects the polished finish from moisture rings and heat marks during daily use.
