These items date from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They reflect historical design movements including Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco styles.

How were these lamps used originally?

Many metal lamps began as candlesticks or oil lamps before undergoing conversion to electricity in later decades. Others were manufactured specifically as electric table lamps during the early twentieth century. Cabinets and small tables listed alongside them served to hold personal items and lighting beside the bed.

How do I identify a Victorian lamp?

Victorian lamps typically feature heavy cast brass, silver plating, or reeded columns reflecting nineteenth-century revival styles. They often incorporate classical motifs such as Corinthian capitals or candlestick forms. Makers from this era frequently utilised solid marble bases or porcelain body components.

Are these lamps supplied rewired?

Some listings note rewiring, while others preserve older wiring systems that require updating for modern use. Buyers should check individual descriptions for electrical status. Professional rewiring ensures safety while maintaining the antique metal or ceramic base.
