A rare example of an antique 19th century Victorian hairwork love token bookmark, crafted on a base of perforated paper (Bristol board) with green cross-stitched borders and the sentimental phrase "Love Me." While human hair art is frequently associated with mourning practices, tokens like this were often exchanged between romantic partners or close friends as enduring keepsakes of affection. The central feature is a finely woven, three dimensional braid of real human hair.

Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound. Some markings to the back, looks a bit like candle wax.
