A beautiful novelty design silver thimble holder.
Made in the shape of an acorn by the American silver smiths Simon Bros who were known for making silver and gold thimbles.
Marked around the edge with their makers mark, the word sterling and the number 2102.
The outside is engraved with the original owners initials.
The silver is in very good condition and the decoration to the lid is extremely crisp. The hinge is totally in tact, but is a little loose but it opens and closes.
From the style of the initials it dates to late 19th early 20th century.
